Their Minnesota Wedding Adventure
Hosting their Elopement wedding in Minnesota along North Shore was a no-brainer for Chelsey and Garrett. Incorporating their love of travel and exploring new parks with their dog, the mix of awe-inspiring views and adventure were perfect for their wedding day! Chelsey and Garrett decided on a first look and mini adventure before their ceremony to have some one on one time together, allowing them to really soak in the experience and feel connected to each other in nature.
They explored around Temperance State Park taking in the views of the chiseled river flowing through the park before heading up to the 300 foot cliffs along Lake Superior's Shoreline for a champagne pop celebration and some cliffside cuddling. From there they headed back to their accommodations at the Red Cedar Cliff Retreat in Lutsen, MN for their wedding ceremony. Chelsey’s mother and father met her at the bottom of the large staircase that led from the retreat down to the shoreline, arm-in-arm, they both walked her down the “aisle” to a rocky outcropping where Garrett was waiting to marry his best friend. Chelsey’s mother had dreamt of her and Chelsey’s father both walking her down the aisle, so this was a truly special and emotional moment to witness. Surrounded by their closest family, friends and the beautiful Lake Superior Shoreline these two got married in the most honest and beautiful way.
After the ceremony wrapped, it was all about the celebration! Chelsey had decorated the main dining area with handmade candles, vintage decor and hanging flowers throughout the entire main dining area. They ate, laughed, danced and all celebrated together listening to the waves crashing along the shore. It was a perfect Minnesota Wedding.

This park is truly underrated for small weddings and elopements in my opinion. It’s proximity to Duluth, MN makes it a great option for couples wanting to get married in an old glacial carved landscape full of water features, woods with endless craggy rocks and pebble beaches.
Their Door County Engagement Photo Adventure. Britta and Caleb love everything adventure, hiking, biking, and kayaking. They are up for the adventure. With their love of nature and being outdoors doing their engagement session in Door County was a no-brainer for these two.
Mkay, Y’all ready to see the most incredible Hobbit Wedding literally EVER!
Knowing they wanted their wedding day to feel like Bilbo's birthday party (from the Lord of the Rings movie), minus the impending threat of unspeakable evil—a Hobbit styled wedding was a no-brainer. Surrounded by people they love, lots of good food and medievel tavern music.
With its over 300 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, rocky bluffs, and freaking amazing views the Northern Peninsula gives you plenty of options for your wedding day. Door County is the perfect place for that cozy small-town feel. Full of state parks, lighthouses, and miles of beach, Door County has become the ideal destination wedding location. From vendors to places to stay, we are here to help you plan the wedding or elopement of your dreams!

Valerie and Brandon always knew they wanted a non-traditional wedding and to be married in a tree grove. So when they stumbled across Burlap & Bells they just knew this was the place they were going to get married.

Kate and Jason’s wedding day at the Bluefin Bay Cove in Tofte, MN was beyond amazing. The resort is nestled right on the shoreline of the lake with incredible views all around.
Every part of their day was intentional; from the location of the ceremony overlooking Lake Superior, to the local vendors all the way down to their Red Wing boots - every detail was inspired by their love for Minnesota! Gripped with anticipation as we hiked down the path towards the pebble beach, we were completely taken back by the view! This has to be the best beach in Lutsen, the absolute perfect place to celebrate their union!
As first light breeched the horizon, illuminating the sea cliffs in the distance, Stacia & Josh said their vows to each other. It was such an intentional and intimate moment to witness. Two people promising to love and experience this adventure called life together forever. It was magical y’all!
Queenie and Roger knew they wanted something steeped in nature, with big ol’ cliffs and all the waves crashing on the rocks sounds. My mind immediately went to Lake Superior. A wedding on the North Shores of Minnesota is all of those things and more, depending on where you look. You can find so much solitude and beautiful views wrapped up into one place.
Interstate State Park is one of the midwest’s best kept secrets. Tucked between two states, split by the Saint Croix River. This glacier sculpted landscape is some of the most dramatic in the area.
So we started our little adventure in Duluth (the town they first met) then headed up the North Shore to wander around some epic cliffs (part 1) and finally the Black Beach for some misty sunset feels.
Palisade Head is a shallow headland of pink Rhyolite cliffs along the North Shore in Beaver Bay, MN. It is an epic section of Tettegouche State Park, were you can really grab some insane views of Lake Superior along with the dense forest and slabs of giant rocks surrounding it.
Are you planning your small wedding or elopement and want somewhere to explore on your wedding day, or maybe you just want some killer views without traveling out of state?! Duluth is totally worth a look!!! It’s where adventure meets the city.
For their engagement photos, we wandered around the cliffs of the St. Croix River at one of the best local State Parks in Wisconsin! - They explored, played around & loved on each other so dang hard!
Jordan and Erica are two adventurous souls that love to travel, sail, camp, paddle board & love on their pup Bene!!! I cannot say enough amazing things about these two!! They drove up north 4 hours to stay at a friends cabin in Minocqua, WI to catch the last bits of winter for their engagement photos! Erica envisioned a winter adventure in the north woods of Wisconsin where they love to camp, bike & relax in the summer- when their not sailing on Lake Michigan or traveling the world together & such!!
Okay, who else is obsessed with hiking around on those warm winter days, when there’s a butt load of snow everywhere?! Ya know the ones… we had a whopping like 2 if them this year, lol!! WELL, this was one of those- jackets are optional, the sun’s out- let’s go play in the snow kinda days! Tyler & Ashley are two of the most MAGNETIC people on the dang planet, for real!
These two cuties & a group of their friends take a little vacation up to Two Harbors every year & stay at the Two Harbors Cottages. Which is SUPER cute btw! They knew they wanted to be intentional & have their photos taken somewhere with a lot of meaning for them. So this year’s trip they planned a wintery session right by their cottage on the shoreline of Lake Superior and it was AMAZING!! They hiked, played in the snow, cuddled, got cold & cuddled some more!
Surrounded by their closest friends & family reveling in all the organic- woodsy vibes, they committed themselves to forever & it was AMAZING! Am I allowed to pick favorites??!!! Because this definitely was my favorite outdoor wedding adventure’s of 2018!! Love these guys so dang much!! <3
Brooklyn & Matthew recently moved to Minnesota. Their love of exploring new State Parks and sense of adventure connected us. They hadn’t spent a ton of time on Lake Superior yet, but they knew they loved evergreens, rocks & the views of the lake up by Two Harbors, MN. So we planned a little road trip to Gooseberry Falls State Park for their anniversary photos!
Kendra & Andy have been loving each other long distance for a few years now, and are so excited to finally be married & making plans for her to move to California & be on base with him when she graduates college!! Andy is a Marine out of Cali, these two are so incredibly in love, having only spent weekends together for most of their relationship, with only a short time living in the same town for about a month.
This was my second time exploring Devil’s Lake State Park which is located along the Baraboo Range. It’s Wisconsin’s largest State Park with epic lake views from the towering 500 ft quartzite cliffs (which for us flatlanders, is quite the hike!) Littered with quartzite rock formations, it’s obvious this landscape was carved out by the late Continental Glacier that once covered most of the state. This diverse landscape, in my opinion, is one of the greatest views in Wisconsin.
The engagement photo adventure started at the top of Tettegouche State Park in Minnesota over looking Lake Superior. The clouds were heavy with all the North Shore moodiness we could ask for. From there we continued the journey by hiking down to High Falls, where these lovers got all kinds of cuddly on the rocky beach!
Brianna & Aiden are so dang sweet, fun & thoughtful! I am so glad they found each other! They have two adorable kiddos together. Brianna is a fellow photographer and friend (check out her amazing work here). As such, she dreamed up this amazing anniversary session centralized on exploring Wisconsins largest waterfall, aka Willow Falls at Willow River State Park in Hudson, WI!
Courtney & Eric opted for a hiking engagement adventure in the Baraboo Range. We hiked up the talus slopes, taking in the vast 500 foot views of the lake at the top. It felt a lot like we had just reached the first summit of a mountain, which is not a feeling you often get hiking in Wisconsin! It was so great, hiking around with these two lovers, cannot wait for their 2020 wedding!!
These two got married in Duluth, MN with their closest people a few weeks prior. They decided to do more photos of just the two of them along Lake Superior at sunset. Love these two, I’m so dang happy for them!
Jeff + Kelsey thought it would be fun to get all adventury down at Willow Falls in Hudson, WI for their engagement session. They even packed some cold beers to celebrate! Dodging a few swimmers & climbers along the way, they managed to crack open a couple brews, cuddle up & celebrate their love together! So relaxed, fun & completely them!
Katie & Ryan radiate love & laughter. Having just met them in the parking lot that afternoon, I could already tell we would be instant friends!
Curious how this whole
thing works?
Dreaming of a Norse Viking Style wedding? Yeah, me too! For years I had been fantasizing about photographing a true Norse Viking Hand-fasting wedding ceremony and just never got that inquiry into my inbox. So, I decided to take my creative energy into my own hands and setup a styled shoot at a local park.
