Minnesota Black Beach Engagement in Silver Bay, MN

Kenzie + Alec

Part 2

Location: The Black Beach in Silver Bay, Minnesota

Black Beach in Minnesota

This spot really reminded me of Iceland. The wind, seclusion, black sand, sounds of waves crashing along the rocky shoreline and sheer cliffs had me reminiscing hard. After visiting The Black Sand Beach in Iceland this summer, then returning to Minnesota’s Black Beach, I was honestly surprised and how similar it felt. Just swap out the grey geometric basalt columns for the pink rhyolite cliffs in Minnesota, then swap the ocean for a Great Lake and BOOM – the midwest’s version of Iceland’s most popular beach! Click here to see the Iceland shoot and tell me it doesn’t feel a bit similar (or tell me I’m just missing Iceland so hard, that I’m making shit up, lol!

Okay, so in Part 1, I told you how a little bet between college friends put these two on their path to forever. – You can find their part one adventure >>HERE<< – Now I want to tell you how freaking amazing these two are!!!

So we started our little adventure in Duluth (the town they first met) then headed up the North Shore to wander around some epic cliffs (part 1) and finally the Black Beach for some misty sunset feels. I spent about 6 hours overall with these two, documenting them doing their thing and loving on each other. But I have to say it honestly felt like I was just catching up with some old friends hanging out in one of our favorite places to explore in the midwest. I seriously cannot get over how much fun Kenzie & Alec are!

Oh did I mention they brought a delicious local brew for us to sip and watch the waves crash from Castle Danger Brewery and a matching pint glass for little ol’ me!!! – See they are the best!!!

UPDATE- In total adventurers fashion, these two got married in Colorado, keep an eye out for that blog post, its full of jeeping ventures, hiking and one of my favorite first looks of all time!
